Planning a Balboa Park, San Diego Wedding/ Clint & Heather

Congratulations, Clint & Heather! These two had an amazing day getting married in iconic Balboa Park, and I was truly honored to capture their special day. I loved that Heather was relaxed and enjoying herself with Mimosa in hand while getting her hair and makeup done in an AirBNB close to the park. Her happiness was apparent and her joy was contagious.

Flowers were an important part of this wedding. Heather and her father GREW most of the bouquet and decorative flowers. How amazing is that? I was aware of Heather’s love for her flowers so I incorporated them into as many photos as possible throughout the day. The flowers were stunning! Her love of flowers led to the First Look location, the Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden. It was convenient being close to the ceremony location and having an easy drop-off area. Despite the rose bushes being recently pruned (which was a disapointment), it was a special moment when Clint first saw Heather in her wedding dress. A quick portrait session followed just a few steps away at the Balboa Desert Garden which provided some shade.

Finding locations in close proximity to the wedding ceremony and reception was key to keeping the timeline moving. As we walked to meet the Bridal Party, I spotted a pretty location next to a tree in front of the Natural History Museum which was away from the main pathways (and crowds). Bridal party and family group portraits were done close to the Casa Del Prado Theatre, only steps away from the ceremony and reception location.

All the details of the wedding were carefully thought out which made for a gorgeous scene amongst the amazing architecture of Balboa Park. Not only that, but it was evident that the wedding party and guests were having fun. When it came time for dancing, everyone broke out their best dance moves. It was fun watching everyone have a blast! Despite the fabulous party going on, I snuck off with Clint and Heather for a few minutes for evening portraits. We walked to the beautiful lily pond area which was next to the Casa Del Prado Patio reception site. It was special to see them enjoying a few moments together away from the guests during our quick post-ceremony portrait session. These are my favorite captures from the day.

Clint and Heather’s wedding was truly a day to remember. They’re a sweet couple made for each other with a lifetime of happiness to look forward to. It was hard to narrow down my favorite shots from such an epic day but here are some of the moments and portraits that made the list. Enjoy!
